Description

I did this drawing last year on Memorial Day and I posted this blog today on myspace.

Today, the United States is probably divided more than ever---so we are told---yet we have always had our differences with each other. But the truth is that true Americans are not on anyone's side but America's side. Republicans like to throw the traitor word around like a racist if you don't agree with them.

They like to say that those who are against the war, and who don't agree with the President's choices of action are Anti-American, Socialists, Anarchists, Liberals, Communists and Hippies!

Sometimes War is the only option. Sometimes Violence is the only answer because sometimes people just can't agree and can't leave each other alone. Many men and woman, from all countries, have gone off to war for different reasons. Some felt it was their duty, some felt it was their glory, some felt it was their honor, some felt it was their gift, some felt it was because they had no choice. It doesn't matter how they felt, and it doesn't matter whether or not they called themselves Republicans, Democrats, Christians, Muslims, Buddists or Jews. In the end, all that mattered was that they fought and some of them died, for what they believed in. They fought and they died because they loved someone back home. They fought and they died to protect us.

I am not a Republican, I am not a Democrat, I am not a religious man, I do not agree with George Bush, I do not agree with this war in Iraq but I am not a traitor for that...I am an American and a Patriot. The whole idea behind this country was that we were given our freedom. Our freedom to see things our own way without anyone attacking us or labeling us for it. I choose to think for myself, form my own opinions and live life by my own terms and rules. That is my right as an American, it is what the brave men and women of our past fought and died for and by God I love them for that and you better believe that I will always love and support anyone who sacrifices so much, for the true idea of what our country stands for. So this Memorial Day weekend, put aside the division, put aside the fighting, put aside the hate, and honor those men and women, of different political and religious backgrounds, who fought and died side by side, as one.

Can't we honor them in doing the same back home?
